- Most of the times, the veil has to do with evil spirits. The veil served to hide the bride from the evil spirits. People of different culture, used the color white or red to protect against evil spirits.
- In christianity, the bride had to cover her head sybolizing that the men had authority over her and dominates her. In the christian bible, it says that God/Jesus has authority over the man and the man has authority over the woman. Over the years, the things written in the bibles has changed. In one bible it says one thing, and the other bible says another thing. In some culture, people wrote entire books of beliefs that they created to go with their bible. Just something to think about. Choose your beliefs carefully, because they create you! If some beliefs do not give you peace of mind, throw them out! If some beliefs put you, your boby, mind and spirit in danger or allow others to hurt you in any way, throw it out, run and create a new life for you with loving beliefs of your own!
- In arranged marriage, they used to cover the brides face with a blusher veil just so that the groom looking at her does not find her ugly and run away or so that she does not get embarrassed looking at him for the first time.
CATHERINE'S PERSONAL OPINION:
All veils are beautiful. It is OK to wear any style of veil that your heart desires just for the beauty of it. I would not hesitate to wear a wedding veil myself, but for the beauty of it, not other people's beliefs. Personalize your veil and put your own meaning to the veil. You don't have to adopt other people's beliefs if it does not reasonate with you. When you do things that does not reasonate with you, you become unhappy. And when you are unhappy, that means you allowed you and others to violate your own boundaries. You will be learning about boundaries in the Pretty Life section of my website http://www.CatherineBellaire.ca comin soon! More and more woman and men have thrown out the belief that men have authority over women. Women are not property of men. We are all equal, but in different ways. We women and men were born with a gift to share with the whole world to make the planet a better place to live on.
